Methyl acetate is sometimes employed as a solvent, due to its weakly polar nature and lipophilicqualities, although its close counterpart ethyl acetate is favored more frequently as it is less toxic and exhibits lower water solubility. Methyl acetate is known for having a solubility of approximately 25% in water at room temperature, with significantly increased solubility in water at higher temperatures.
